Itinerary
Day by Day
Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional local Bhutanese tour guide before beginning a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. En route, stop at the historic Tachhog Lhakhang Iron Bridge, built in the 15th century by the legendary Tibetan saint Thangtong Gyalpo. Continue your journey to Thimphu, where you will enjoy a delicious traditional Bhutanese lunch at a local farmhouse. In the afternoon, explore the vibrant Thimphu Main Market. In the evening, visit the magnificent Tashichho Dzong and witness the Flag Lowering Ceremony.
Overnight in Thimphu
After breakfast, visit the National Memorial Chorten, the iconic Buddha Dordenma, the Motithang Takin Preserve Centre, Sangaygang Viewpoint, the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, and the Bhutan Postal Museum. End the day at the lively Centenary Farmers’ Market.
Overnight in Thimphu
Depart for Phobjikha Valley via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100 m) and its 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Continue via Wangdue Phodrang to the peaceful Phobjikha Valley, winter home of the endangered Black-necked Cranes, and enjoy a relaxing walk along the Gangtey Nature Trail.
Overnight in Phobjikha
Visit the Black-necked Crane Information Centre and the historic Gangtey Monastery. Drive to Punakha and visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, then walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge.
Overnight in Punakha
Visit the sacred Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple). Drive back to Paro and visit the National Museum of Bhutan and the majestic Rinpung Dzong. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Paro Town.
Overnight in Paro
After an early breakfast, embark on the hike to Taktsang Monastery, dramatically perched on a cliff 900 metres above the Paro Valley. The round-trip hike takes approximately 5–6 hours through pine forests and prayer flags.
Overnight in Paro
After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight.
