
Jomolhari Base Camp Trek
Trek beneath Mount Jomolhari through Bhutan's most iconic high-alpine trails. This 10-day expedition climbs through rhododendron forest and yak pastures to Jangothang base camp, crosses the 4,890m Nyile La pass, and descends through Lingshi and Shodu — a true test for experienced trekkers.
Itinerary
Day by Day
Airport welcome in Paro, gear check, trek briefing with your guide, early night before the trail.
Overnight in Paro
Drive to the trailhead, trek roughly 17km alongside the Paro Chhu through pine forest to Shana.
Overnight in Shana (camp)
A longer day (~22km) climbing through rhododendron forest with the first views of Mount Jomolhari.
Overnight in Soi Thangthangka (camp)
Trek ~19km to Jangothang, the base camp beneath Mount Jomolhari’s dramatic north face.
Overnight in Jangothang (camp)
Rest and acclimatize with a side hike to the turquoise Tshophu Lakes.
Overnight in Jangothang (camp)
Cross the 4,890m Nyile La pass, the trek’s high point, and descend to the Lingshi valley.
Overnight in Lingshi (camp)
Follow the Thimphu Chhu downstream through remote alpine scenery to Shodu.
Overnight in Shodu (camp)
Continue through blue pine and bamboo forest, passing the ruins of Barshong Dzong.
Overnight in Barshong (camp)
A shorter descent to your final camp, with a farewell dinner shared with your trek crew.
Overnight in Dolam Kencho (camp)
Final descent to the road head, drive back to Paro, airport transfer.
